Long-term home testing

Radtrak³® is Radonova’s long term (90-365 day) radon detector. A highly accurate passive device, it’s ideal for either primary or mitigation follow-up testing.

Indoor radon levels fluctuate from day to day. Radtrak³® fully takes this into account, providing an average radon level measurement across the detector’s testing window.

Once testing is complete, this average can be compared to the UK’s indoor target level of 100 Bq/m3, to determine if action is necessary in order to lower it.

Short-term home testing

Designed for those times when you need fast results, our Rapidos® detector redefines short-term home radon testing.

A larger chamber allows for a testing window of just 10 days, without compromising on measurement accuracy – alpha track technology makes Rapidos® invulnerable to factors which can affect other short-term detectors, such as humidity.

This makes Rapidos® the perfect detector to assess if further testing should be conducted, mitigation efforts should begin, or if you’re buying a new home and need fast results to speed up your purchase.

Radon is everywhere

Radon gas can be found across the UK, yet many dismiss the idea that it exists where they live, or that it could pose a risk to their health. The key question is, how much radon are you exposed to? In order to reduce lung cancer cases, the target value for radon in indoor air should be no more than 100 becquerels per cubic metre (Bq/m3).

Why it’s important to test for radon

  • Radon can be found in the soil throughout the UK; however its concentration varies from place to place
  • Radon maps are a useful guide to areas of high concentration, but as they can’t indicate radon levels inside buildings, they shouldn’t be treated as a definitive means of testing
  • Even soil in a low-risk area may contain high enough radon concentration to cause health problems

Reducing radon content: simple life insurance

A common reason homeowners don’t measure radon levels is that they believe remedial work will be complicated, disruptive and expensive. However, this is not necessarily the case. If measurements indicate a level above the 100 Bq/m3 target, there are simple, cost-effective solutions available to alleviate the problem. Find out more here.
